Hanging Banners for Trade Shows: 10ft, 15ft and 20ft Circles, Squares and Triangles

Hanging Banners for Trade Shows: 10ft, 15ft and 20ft Circles, Squares and Triangles

Walk into any convention hall and look up. The booths you notice first are the ones with something hanging over them. A trade show hanging banner puts your brand above the crowd, above the backwalls and above the competing noise at floor level, so attendees can find you from three aisles away.

This guide walks through the three most popular hanging banner shapes in the three most requested widths: 10ft, 15ft and 20ft circles, squares and triangles. For each one you will see which booth sizes it suits, which heights are available, what the kit includes and roughly what to budget. Every product shown here is a Capital Exhibits kit you can order online or have quoted for a larger custom build.

How Capital Exhibits hanging banners are built

Every shape in this guide uses the same basic system. A collapsible extruded aluminum frame snaps together without tools and is wrapped in a zippered, pillowcase-style tension fabric graphic. The graphic is dye-sublimation printed, so the color is in the fibers rather than sitting on top, and it can be folded, washed and reused show after show.

A graphic package includes the frame, the printed fabric, a nylon travel bag and the rigging hardware: hanging cable, chain, springs, eye hooks and the fasteners that tie it all together. Graphics and frames carry a one-year warranty. Standard orders ship in three to five business days, and rush production is available when a show date is close. If you already own a frame, the hardware-only collection lets you buy a replacement frame or a graphic-only reprint.

Single-sided or double-sided

Single-sided prints the outside face only. Double-sided, sometimes called inside-outside, prints the interior as well, so the banner reads correctly when attendees are standing directly under it or looking across your booth from the far side. On circles and squares the double-sided option also hides the white interior you would otherwise see from below. Square banners add a third choice, single-sided with a black back, which gives a finished look inside without the cost of a second printed graphic.

Picking the width: 10ft, 15ft or 20ft

Width is the first decision, and it follows your booth footprint. A 10ft banner sits comfortably over a 10x10 or 10x20 inline booth and is the most popular size we sell. A 15ft banner is the sweet spot for a 20x20 island, where it leaves breathing room around the edges and lets the show's rigging crew center it over your space. A 20ft banner is for 20x20 islands that want wall-to-wall presence, and for 20x30, 30x30 and larger spaces where a smaller shape would look lost. The 20ft square is the one shape we stock at that width; for round and triangular banners the largest stock frames are 15ft and 16ft, which we cover below.

Height is the second decision. The height number on a circle, square or triangle is the depth of the fabric band, from 24 inches up to 72 inches on the larger frames. Between 36 and 48 inches gives a strong balance of visibility and proportion for most booths, and it keeps the banner within the height limits most shows publish. Always check the show's rigging rules before you pick a height, because a 72-inch band on a 20ft frame can run into ceiling restrictions in a lower-ceilinged hall.

Circle hanging banners

A circle hanging banner has no front or back. One continuous fabric wrap carries your message around all 360 degrees, so the banner reads the same from every aisle. That makes it the safest choice when you are not sure which direction traffic will come from, and it is the shape most exhibitors picture when they think of overhead signage.

10ft circular hanging banners

5ft. Circle Hanging Banner

The 10ft circle hanging banner is built for 10x10 and 10x20 inline booths and is the best-selling hanging sign on our site. It comes in 24, 32, 36, 42 and 48 inch heights as a full graphic package, a graphic-only reprint or a frame-only kit. Frame-only pricing starts around $909, and a complete single-sided graphic package at a 42 inch height is a little over $1,800. A fixed 10ft by 42 inch wholesale circle package is also available for buyers who want one price and one configuration.

15ft circular hanging banners

5ft. Circle Hanging Banner

The 15ft circle hanging banner is the island-booth workhorse. It adds 60 and 72 inch heights to the standard range, so the graphic band can scale up with the diameter, and it is offered as a graphic package or graphic-only. Pricing starts around $1,422 and climbs with height and double-sided printing. At this size a 36 to 48 inch band is usually the right proportion over a 20x20 space.

If you want a softer silhouette, the tapered circle collection has 10ft, 12ft and 15ft versions that are wider at the bottom and narrow toward the ceiling. The 15ft by 4ft tapered circle is the largest off-the-shelf option.

20ft circular hanging banners: what to use instead

5ft. Circle Hanging Banner

Exhibitors with a 20x20 island often ask for a 20ft circle so the banner defines the whole footprint. In practice the 15ft circle hanging banner is the largest round frame we stock, and it is usually the better call. A 15ft circle leaves a few feet of clearance on every side of a 20x20 space, which makes it easier for the show's rigging crew to center, keeps it inside most venues' size limits and costs less to rig because it weighs less. If you want the extra scale, order it in the 60 or 72 inch height so the graphic band fills the sightline from across the hall. For a 20x20 that wants a square footprint overhead, the 20ft square covered below is the stock frame that matches the booth edge for edge.

Square and rectangular overhead signs

A square hanging banner gives you four flat faces instead of one curved wrap. That is the main reason to choose it: flat panels are easier to design for. Logos stay sharp, text lines up, and you can put a different message on each side, such as your name on two faces and a product or tagline on the others. The frame uses curved stabilizers inside the corners to keep the fabric drum-tight.

10ft square and rectangular overhead signs

5ft. Square Hanging Banner

The 10ft square hanging banner covers the same inline booths as the 10ft circle, and it is the better pick when your artwork is logo-heavy or text-heavy. Heights run 24 to 48 inches, with single-sided, single-sided black back and double-sided graphic options. Graphic packages start around $1,298. The 12ft square is the next step up for a 10x20 that wants a little more reach.

15ft square and rectangular overhead signs

5ft. Square Hanging Banner

At 15ft the square becomes an island-booth sign. The frame is sold in 24, 36, 42, 48, 60 and 72 inch heights. The 15ft square 48 inch frame is about $1,725 as hardware only, and the 60 inch and 72 inch frames give you a deeper band for long sightlines. Add a printed graphic package and you have a four-sided billboard over a 20x20 booth.

Tapered squares are the premium version of this shape. The tapered square collection runs from 10ft to 15ft, and the 15ft by 3.5ft tapered square angles all four faces inward as they rise, which reads as a custom structure rather than a stock banner.

20ft square and rectangular overhead signs

5ft. Circle Hanging Banner

The 20ft square is the largest stock hanging frame we carry. It is sold as a frame in 24, 32, 36, 42, 48, 60 and 72 inch heights, with the 48 inch frame around $1,412 and the 60 inch frame around $1,431. A 20ft square matches the footprint of a 20x20 island exactly, so the banner edges line up with your booth edges when viewed from the aisle. The graphic for any 20ft frame is printed as four separate panels, so each face can carry its own message or a long rectangular layout can run across two adjacent faces.

Triangle and tapered hanging banners

A triangle hanging banner is the shape to choose when your booth sits at an aisle intersection or a corner. Three flat faces cover three approach directions, and the pointed profile looks different from the circles and squares around it. Triangles also pack smaller than a square of the same width, which helps with shipping and drayage.

Tapered triangles take the same three-sided footprint and narrow it toward the top, which creates a pointed apex and a more sculptural look. They are sized by overall height rather than band depth, and the artwork is set up to account for the narrowing geometry on each face.

10ft triangle and tapered hanging banners

5ft. Triangle Hanging Banner

The 10ft triangle hanging banner is offered in 24, 32, 36, 42 and 48 inch heights, single or double-sided, with graphic packages starting around $838. Larger 60 and 72 inch frames are available in the hardware-only range. For the tapered version, the 10ft by 4ft tapered triangle ships as a complete single-sided package at about $1,834, with a double-sided package for booths that need it to read from underneath.

15ft triangle and tapered hanging banners

16 x 5 ft. Hanging Banner Tapered Triangle Single - Sided (Graphic Package)

At 15ft a triangle becomes a landmark. The 15ft triangle 60 inch graphic package is a complete frame-and-graphic kit at about $3,052, and frames are sold on their own from 24 inches up to the 72 inch frame, which includes a carry bag. The tapered triangle collection steps up to a 16ft by 5ft tapered triangle for island booths that want the tapered profile at full scale.

20ft triangle and tapered hanging banners: what to use instead

8ft. Triangle Hanging Banner

For a 20x20 corner island the largest three-sided shapes we stock are the 15ft triangle, available up to a 72 inch band, and the 16ft by 5ft tapered triangle. Either one covers a 20ft island from all three approach directions. A triangle's points reach wider than its faces, so a 15ft or 16ft frame already spans most of a 20ft booth edge, and the tapered version adds height and a sculptural apex that reads as large as a bigger flat-sided frame would. The 16ft tapered triangle ships as a complete package in single-sided or double-sided print at about $3,667 and $5,501.

Rigging, heights and what to confirm before you order

Hanging banners are suspended from the hall ceiling, and almost every convention center requires the rigging to be done by its official rigging contractor at a separate cost. That cost depends on the banner's weight, the number of pick points and the labor hours, so it belongs in your budget alongside the banner itself. Before you place an order, confirm four things with the show organizer: whether hanging signs are allowed for your booth type, the maximum height to the top of the sign, the weight limit per pick point and the rigging order deadline. Island booths are almost always allowed to hang signs. Inline booths sometimes are not, so check first.

Lead time matters too. Standard production ships in three to five business days, but the show's advance warehouse usually closes two to three weeks before move-in, and the rigging order form often has its own deadline. Work backward from those dates and order early enough to leave room for a proof round on your artwork.

Which hanging banner should you choose?

Choose a circle when you want the simplest, most recognizable overhead shape and the same message in every direction. Choose a square when your artwork is logo-driven or you want different messages on different faces. Choose a triangle when your booth is on a corner or intersection, or when you want a profile that stands apart from the shapes around it. Match the width to your booth: 10ft for inline, 15ft for a standard island, 20ft when you want the banner to own the whole footprint.
